Last year I struggled to chose a topic for this theme, but I knew straight away who the subject of this weeks theme would be. Back in early February my mum suffered a complete renal failure and was rushed to hospital in a coma, the doctors told us she might not survive the night. My mum has always been a tough old bird, but she looked so weak in that hospital that we really thought we would lose her. After many weeks in hospital though, she proved us all wrong, although still very ill, she came home, she doesn't remember being ill now, but is back to being her self again now. I was going to do a portrait, but decided to just take a of picture how I see her every day, she surrounds herself with the things she enjoys now, and at 89 years old is looking forward to many more years ahead.
At we are suffering long nights and short days, I can only get out in the dark, so decided to go for an early morning image of our High Street. The Christmas lights are all on now and there is a bit of a festive feel all around the city. This was my second image, I had planned to go for the extra credit, but got the exposure wrong on my first attempt. This was developed in Exposure X4 as a wet plate film then enhanced a little in Lightroom. I took a total of 9 images this week, so could have got away with a roll of 12 :-)
At this time of year, I only see darkness out of my windows due to my work pattern, so using a window for light was out of the question. I decided to think outside the box a little and use the windows that bring the most benefit to me in my day to day life. Without my glasses, I can't see anything closer than about 8 feet away, so have no detail in anything close. I love what my glasses give me, the ability to see things so clearly is just fantastic. So here they are, my personal windows to the world around me.
