“ Poppies ” Firstly, thank you to Eric West https://52frames.com/photographer/ericwest for editing this image for me, although it was hard to pick the edit I liked the best from my mini group #52streakers. I took this picture on Saturday morning as it was the first break in the weather all week, although I was hoping for some cloud, the sky was clear which wasn't as bad as the flat cloud it replaced. I took this at the end of blue hour as I had seen the poppies while driving home from work one morning and just knew the scene would look good provided the light was right. I used a 2 stop ND grad filter as the land was in a dip with the sun was about to rise behind me, so the sky was a lot brighter than the fields in the image. I was worried the poppies may have been flattened by the heavy rain. Photo Location: Lower Hardres, Kent, UK
“ A seat with a view ” I always struggle a little trying to find negative space, so my go to location is usually the coast, and this time I had decided to use one of the benches overlooking the sea as my main subject. I waited until the early evening to capture the image, as the area can be very crowded most of the time and I wanted to capture a sense of solitude to add to the negative feel over all. Before taking the picture, I did spend some time just sitting on the bench and enjoying letting my mind wonder, a bit of me time which I don't often have, so as well as coming home with an image for the challenge, I came hope relaxed and refreshed. I like this bench. Photo Location: Tankerton seafront, Kent, UK
